Areas of expertise – Dr. Gurudutt is an expert in head and neck oncology. He has extensive experience in the surgical treatment of head and neck cancers/tumors, thyroid/parathyroid surgery, salivary gland surgery, and neck masses. He has certification in the use of robotic surgery in treating cancer and sleep apnea.

Outstanding key points– In addition to general otolaryngology, sinus surgery, and sleep apnea surgery, Dr. Gurudutt utilizes office ultrasound in the evaluation of patients with head and neck disease including thyroid nodules. He has helped educate physicians by co-directing a course teaching surgeons the proper technique for certification in using ultrasound in the head and neck. Before practicing in the Atlanta area, he spent several years in academics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. While in New York, Dr. Gurudutt educated medical students, residents, and fellows in the intricacies of head and neck cancer surgery and general otolaryngology. He was part of the World Trade Center Program in providing care for police officers and firemen affected by 9/11. In addition to treating cancer patients, he directed the treatment of Salivary Diseases for the Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. He has lectured in national conferences from techniques of minimally invasive procedures in salivary surgery to the treatment of thyroid disease. He has published numerous articles and book chapters in head and neck cancer treatment, management of the emergent airway, skin cancer, minimally invasive surgical techniques, and head and neck reconstruction.

He also has an interest in medical outreach. As a medical student, Dr. Gurudutt started the first student run international outreach program at his medical school. He organized and raised funds to field a medical team to care for pediatric patients in a remote region of the Sierra Madre mountains in Mexico. He has worked to provide care in numerous head and neck cancer screenings in the community as well.
